Leyton Orient have spent time in League One, League Two and the National League over the previous decade, so their incomings and outgoings have seen some real variety.

Leyton Orient returned to League One this season and were great value for money as they finished 11th in the table in their first third-tier campaign since 2015.

Richie Wellens’ men were briefly in the play-off conversation, though slowly slipped away towards the end of the campaign and can now begin their preparations for next season.

Before we look ahead to the 2024/25 campaign, however, it is time to reminisce.

Here, we take a look at the five biggest Leyton Orient sales from 2010 to 2020 and where they are now…

George Porter

First up on our list is the 2012 departure of young striker Porter who was snapped up by Burnley for £90,000.

Alongside the initial fee, Leyton Orient were due to receive up to £70,000 more in instalments based on appearances and a further £100,000 if he featured in 23 games that helped the Clarets to promotion.

After two years, however, Porter left Burnley having not made a single appearance for the club. Instead, two relatively unsuccessful loan spells with Colchester United and AFC Wimbledon followed.

The ex-Orient ace has been a journeyman since 2014. He has featured for Rochdale, Dagenham & Redbridge, Maidstone United, Welling United, Bromley, Dartford, Dulwich Hamlet and finally Cray Wanderers where the 31-year-old remains today.

Charlie Daniels

Next up on our list is former Leyton Orient left-back Daniels who joined Bournemouth on a loan deal during the 2011/12 campaign which would be made permanent for up to £200,000 in the January transfer window.

It would turn out to be a successful coup for the Cherries as his eight-year stay with the club saw him rack up 265 appearances, 17 goals and 26 assists.

The defender was part of their League One and Championship promotion winning squads and totalled 129 top-flight appearances, even picking up the Premier League Goal of the Month award in August 2017.

Short spells with Shrewsbury Town, Portsmouth and Colchester ensued after leaving Bournemouth in 2020 and he is now a coach for Watford U18s aged 37.

Macauley Bonne

Next up is striker Bonne, who was poached by Charlton Athletic in 2019 for a reported £200,000.

The Zimbabwe international scored 14 goals and provided two assists in 56 appearances for the Addicks, though QPR came calling and he moved on again after just one season.

Having spent two-and-a-half years with the Rs, which included a loan spell with Ipswich Town, he returned to Charlton permanently in January of 2023 on a deal until the end of the campaign.

That return was an ill-fated one through and Bonne joined Gillingham at the start of the current season, then switching to Cambridge United on loan. The 28-year-old striker is to be released by the Gills this summer, making him a free agent.

Who is this?

Tristan Abrahams

Next up is Tristan Abrahams, who left the Leyton Orient as an 18-year-old in 2017 for a deal worth up to £250,000 when Norwich City swooped in.

The youngster did not make a single appearance for the Canaries during his two years with the club, departing to join Newport County in 2019 following an initial loan return to the O’s and two further loan spells with Exeter City and Yeovil Town.

Abrahams once again returned to the O’s on loan from Newport before signing permanently for Carlisle United. He soon joined Grimsby Town on loan before Eastleigh snapped him up, and yet another loan spell followed with Gillingham.

A short period with Welling was next on his agenda in 2023, before signing for Maidenhead United where he remains today having scored four goals in 11 league appearances aged 25.

Moses Odubajo

Top of our list, and our only seven-figure feature, Moses Odubajo left Leyton Orient for Brentford in a £1m deal back in 2014.

After one season with the Bees, the right-winger turned right-back signed for Hull City and spent three seasons at the club before rejecting a new contract and rejoining Brentford on a one-year deal.

Following the end of his second spell there, Odubajo signed for Sheffield Wednesday and spent two years at Hillsborough before moving on again – this time with QPR in 2021.

Another season passed by, and the former England U20 international was once again on his travels as Greek side Aris Thessaloniki came calling. The 30-year-old has a year left on his deal overseas and is a regular member of the squad.
